    Michael (Mike) Kalua (b.1947)

    Michael was born on August 25, 1947 in Guatemala.

    Kalua studied at the Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University.)

    Kalua's earliest work included drawings such as: Flash Gordon story for Charlton Comics and an adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs's Venus novels for DC. The drawings/ illustrations of the1930's were a strong influence on Kaluta's work. He is most known for motifs that are elaborate decorative panel designs - rather than the silver age comics of the 1960s.

    Kalua was associated with Bernie Wrightson and Jeff Jones he also contributed illustrations to Ted White's Fantastic. He is known for his work on the series Starstru...
