    Millicent E. Ayrton R.Cam.A., M.B.E. was born in Hoylake, Cheshire in 1913. She was a natural painter with an intuitive feel for colour and composition, her flair was evident from an early age leading her to to enroll at the Liverpool College of Art in 1930 where she studied under the highly influential artist William Charles Penn (1877 – 1968).

    Millicent came from a wealthy background enabling her to travel freely an influence which is clearly seen in her many landscapes of the British Isles and abroad.

    As well as a painter she became a teacher herself and was also a member of The Liverpool Academy, The Royal Cambrian Academy, The Wirral Society of Arts and showed extensively at the Ro...
