    Tingle, Miriam “Minnie” May Orewyler (Mrs. Thomas Radcliffe Tingle) (1874-1926)

    Lived in Los Angeles

    American Poet and Artist. She was a well-recognized painter as well as being an accomplished poet and pianist. Born Miriam May, she was one of eleven children of Hezekiah Orewiler and Mary Ellen Forman. She studied at Hardin College and Conservatory of Music located in Mexico, Missouri. She married an editor, Thomas Tingle, in 1900. After the couple relocated to California, she started painting landscapes including mountains and ocean scenes.
