Mitsuo Miura is a sculptor, painter, and experimental artist who was born in Japan and trained at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He furthered his studies at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid, where he has been based since 1966. His work is inspired by the serenity, refinement, and rigor of Japanese culture and claims his oriental roots in the fusion with nature, the technical refinement of matter, and the agile stroke.
