    Moritz Stifter, an Austrian genre painter born in Vienna, was known for his depictions of beautiful women in seductive poses, often set in oriental surroundings. He lived and worked in Haag near Neulengbach, Lower Austria, from 1899 until his death in Mauer-Öhling in 1905. Stifter's artwork encompassed various subjects typical of the 19th century, including female figures, costume subjects, orientalist themes, mythological motifs, and scenes from the 16th and 17th centuries. His style was characterized by a romantic language and precise brushwork, particularly evident in his gallant and historicist scenes and portraits evoking the Renaissance....
