From 1939-48 he taught at Schwarzman's studio with David Handel and at the Histadrut Studio, directed by Aharon Avni. He was the 'Wandering Painter' among army graves and camps. Proppes won the Dizengoff Prize in 1950-51 and the Histadrut Pize in 1958. He executed many murals for army camps.
