Manuel Abril, playwright, poet, novelist, translator, and journalist, excelled particularly as a children's story writer and art critic. His monographs on Julio Romero de Torres and Ramón were famous. Casas, both published by Renacimiento.
A solid friendship developed between Néstor and Abril, lasting until the former's death in 1938. Around ten articles attest to the critic's admiration for the painting of one of the greatest representatives of Spanish and European symbolism. The first, titled "The Art of Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre," was published in "Por esos Mundos" in March 1914; followed by others in which he speaks both exclusively and makes annotations in different contexts, namely:
