    Nicholas Fairbairn was born in 1933 and died in 1995.

    Sir Nicholas Fairbairn was a Scottish lawyer and politician who was known for his colorful and eccentric personality. He was a popular constituency MP and a brilliant QC who was appointed Solicitor General for Scotland in 1979.

    Fairbairn was known for his unique style, which included carrying a miniature revolver and using the House of Commons Parliamentary snuff box. He was also an author, forester, painter, poet, TV and radio broadcaster, journalist, dress-designer, landscape gardener, bon viveur, raconteur, and wit. His autobiography, A Life is Too Short, was published in 1987.
