    Nicola Vaccaro began his training in his father's studio following his father's style, however he was soon attracted to the work of Salvator Rosa. He began to assimilate his palette to the point that works by him were considered to be by Rosa. In the 1950s he moved to Rome, where he joined Nicolas Poussin's workshop. In the Eternal City he married Anna Maria Mannecchia, daughter of the master Gian Giacomo Manecchia, which opened the doors of Rome's art scene to him.
