Obinna Makata is a Nigerian artist who uses fabric as a metaphor to explore cultural identity and evolving social values in Nigeria. He creates mixed media collages using ink, acrylic, and scraps of Ankara fabric to depict common aspects of daily life, such as visa queues, modern relationships, and crowded urban environments. Makata began using fabric in his works after noticing the scraps left behind by his neighbor who worked as a tailor.
