Olive Henry (1902-1989) As a native of Belfast, her involvement in painting and stained glass design began when she enrolled in night classes at the Belfast school of Art as a young girl. A career in this line of work developed when the owner of W. F. Clokey & Co., a predominant Belfast glass firm, offered her an apprenticeship on completion of her education at Victoria College. This was the beginning of a long and fruitful career lasting fifty-three years. Most of her time was spent designing windows; she seldom had the opportunity to produce the cartoons and paint the glass herself.
