    Oscar Coddron was a professor at the Royal Academy of Art in Gent (Gand) Belgium during the majority of his artistic career from the early 20th Century until the 1950's. He lived in Laatem, in a country 'villa' near the Leie (Lys) river, in a then rural area (now a suburb) just outside of Gent.

    In Laatem he became good friends with a social circle of many other Belgian-Flemish artists of that time ('the Leie school'), including Gust and Leon De Smet, De Sadeleer, Saverijs and others. He had a (non-artist) son, Walter Coddron (whose mother was Stephanie). When his wife Stephanie passed away in the mid-late '50's, he re-married to his sister-in-law, Jeannot.
