    Otto NIEMEYER-HOLSTEIN 1896 Kiel - 1984 Koserow German painter, son of the lawyer Theodor, brother of the architect Johannes.

    As a volunteer, he served in the military in 1914/1915. In 1916, as a war invalid, he went to Switzerland, where he studied painting. He drew landscapes, here he met the circle of Ascona's artists. In 1924 he was a founding member of the local artistic group "Wielki Bear".

    He traveled to Italy, Yugoslavia, Spain and France. He met Alexej von Jawlensky. He studied with Curt Witte at the Academy in Kassel. In 1926 he moved to Berlin. He studied with Willy Jaeckel and Arthur Segal. From 1933 he lived on the island of Usedom, between the towns of Koserow and Zempin.
