About Otto Ubbelohde

    German painter, graphic artist and art nouveau designer, Otto Ubbelohde studied at the Weimar Kunstschule as well as at the Munich academy under G. von Hackl, W. von Diez and L. von Löfftz since 1884.

    He was in contact with the painter's colonies Dachau and Worpswede; in 1902 he joined the Willinghausen painter's colony. He earned himself global fame with his illustrations of the Grimm fairy tales, published in 1909.
