Otto Westphal 1878 Leipzig - 1975 Dresden 1894-96 attended the Kunstgewerbeschule Kassel and 1896-99 the weaving school in Krefeld. From 1899 turned to fine art. 1904-07 Studied at the Dresden Academy of Art under Richard Müller and Carl Bantzer. 1914-16 Participates in the First World War. Studies in Hesse, Gdansk and Switzerland, among other places. 1924 Works on murals and mosaics in Ravenna, Italy. 1929 Wall paintings for the Roman Garden of the Gruga in Essen. From 1930 worked in Pompeii for the Rome Archaeological Institute. In the 1940s, an assistant to Fritz Beckert at the TH Dresden.
