Warlpiri artists at Papunya such as Old Mick Walankari, Charlie Tjupurrula and Two Bob Tjungurrayi, spread news of the art movement to their countrymen in the Tanami desert, and it came to pass that in 1983 Paddy Nelson Tjupurrula and five other elders painted the school doors in the tiny Warlpiri settlement of Yuendumu.
