About Pasquale Rossi

  • Biography

Pasqualino Rossi was an Italian painter from Vicenza who was active in the Marches and Rome during the 17th century. He was sought after by important commissions such as the Pallavicini, Pamphilj, and Colonna families. Rossi's sacred paintings show his attachment to the artistic tradition of the Marche region, influenced by Lorenzo Lotto and Federico Barocci. He was also known for his scenes of popular life, which were compared to the works of other 17th-century masters such as Pietro Vecchia, Bamboccianti, and Monsù Bernardo. Rossi paid particular attention to the figures of beggars in his artwork. His fame crossed the Alps and was of European significance.
