  • Biography

    Born in Denmark in May 1861. Busch studied in Munich and Paris and painted for 18 months in the palace of the King of Denmark. In NYC he had painted frescoes and decorations in the Madison Square Theatre, Wallack's New Theatre, Hotel Brunswick, as well as the Grand Opera House in Syracuse. In St Louis he decorated the home of brewer Adolphus Busch and the Presbyterian Church.

    He came to California in the 1880s and was commissioned to do decorations in the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. He then settled in San Francisco into a studio in the old "Monkey Block" (now the Transamerica Pyramid). In 1889 he shared studios with Eduardo Tojetti in the Murphy Building at the corner of Market and Jone
