    Peter was the son of Bernard Lens, the first artist in England to use ivory as a base upon which to paint miniatures. He was the brother of Andrew Benjamin Lens, also a miniature artist. He was in Dublin in 1737 and was a prominent member of the "Blasters" club, which was a club similar to the Hell-Fire Club. He was prosecuted for being a Blaster and warrants were issued for his arrest, he avoided being captured and returned to the UK.
