    Pierre Eugene Duteurtre (French, 1911-1989) better known under the pseudonym DUT, was born on 10 July 1911 at Deuil-la-Barre (Val d'Oise) and died on 9 November 1989. He was a creator of comics and a painter.

    His career as a draftsman begins in the 1930s. He did not begin to devote himself fully to painting until 1968.

    From 1934 to 1939, he worked for the Parisian society of edition (EPS). Dut spent the essential part of his career cooperating with the scenarist Marijac. Their first collaboration was in Le Coq Hardi in 1947 with part two of 'La Guerre de la Terre' (succeeding Auguste Liquois), soon followed by 'Sitting Bull', a western which they produced from 1948 until 1952...
