    Pierette Bloch spent her childhood in Paris, before her family took refuge in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1939. After spending a few years in Lausanne, she returned to her hometown in the fall of 1945, where she first undertook law studies and followed literature courses. At the same time, she attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumière as well as the workshops of Jean Souverbie and André Lhote.

    Through Henri Gotz, in 1949 she met, among others, Pierre Soulages, with whom she maintained a close friendship. Bloch's first solo exhibition took place in 1951 at the Galerie Mai in Paris, followed by two other presentations in the United States. Her overseas travels and her contacts with contemporary American artists have marked the artist...
