    Obituary for Robert Eugene Pierce

    Robert Eugene Pierce, Age 76, Portland OR, passed away on November 27 th surrounded by friends and family after suffering from Leukemia. Robbie "RE" Pierce was born on August 4th in Portland, Oregon to Jeanne and Eugene "Buck" Pierce. After he graduated from David Douglas High School in 1966, he volunteered to enlist with the US Marine Corps. Robbie served with the Marines in Vietnam and was enlisted from 1970 – 1973.

    Upon returning from Vietnam, Robbie played baseball for Portland State University, and Lewis and Clark University while pursuing his education in Art and History. After finishing his time with school and baseball, Robbie went on to begin his career as a professional artist in 1973 and even taught art to students at Mt. Hood Community College for a time. His art has been featured at prestigious art shows and exhibitions such as the CM Russel Auction, The Favell Museum's Permanent Art Collection, and The Bradford Exchange Series in collector plates.

    Robbie was an incredibly loving and generous man with everyone he cared for. He loved sharing his knowledge with anyone that would listen, and you could always count on him to be cracking jokes even if they came at your expense. He was known by his friends and family for his passionate interest in sports, politics, and history as well as his many impressive collections.

    He is preceded in death by his sister Judy Snowden, his brother Tommy Neher, his mother Jeanne Pierce, and his father Eugene Pierce. Robbie is survived by his wife of 37 years Kristine, his two sons Sean & Ricky, his daughter-in-law Chelsea, his grandson Patrick, his brother David Neher, and sister-in-law Paula Neher, and his sister Gayanne Marshall, and brother-in-law Danny Marshall.

    R E Pierce biographical photo
    Driven from childhood to excel in painting, R.E. Pierce has strived to create works of art that capture the feel and excitement of both the early and contemporary West that appeals to every collector.

    A diverse professional artist since 1973, Pierce has taught watercolor, and has participated in numerous Western Art Shows and exhibitions throughout the United States. He has shown at the prestigious C.M. Russell Auction in Great Falls, Montana, where Pierce is entering his 25th consecutive year as a participating artist. He was also involved in the C.M. Russell Museum's 1999 "The Cowboy, Today's Tradition" exhibition. His artwork has been featured on The Bradford Exchange Series of collector plates and Leanin' Tree cards. His work is in the Favell Museum's Permanent Art Collection, and the U.S.M.C Combat Art Collection. He was chosen as the Ellensburg Art Auction Poster Artist for 1996.

    Currently, Pierce is using his experience as a U.S. Marine in Viet Nam for a series of paintings, one of which was featured in "Viet Nam" magazine.
