    Founder of the "Group Rectangle" ( "Grupo rectangle") (1955) and the "Movement of form and space" (1962), Vergara Grez is considered the father of abstraction in Chile. Member of the Academy of Fine Arts of the Institute of Chile (1972), it is the defender Neoplasticism strictly rational art, without any intervention from the subjective, sentimental or figurative. It breaks completely with the naturalistic conception of art, and away from the traditional Chilean painting to approach the art of intellectual reflection and the study of pure forms.
