    The New Rump. - Studied interior design at the Hanseatic Academy of Fine Arts Hamburg. After his military service and imprisonment, he continued his studies with Edgar Horstmann. After a short period of study with K. Kaschak, from 1947 he was a student of Willem Grimm at the State Art School. 1948-50 studied at the "Baukreis" under A. Fiedler. In 1953 he destroyed all works he had created up to that point. The painting style changes from a vital approach and strong colors to sensitive elaboration and nuanced use of fewer colors.
