    Rene Gagnon (born 1928) (1)

    A prominent Quebec painter and draftsman, Rene Gagnon was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec and lives in l'Anse-de-Roche, Quebec (about 150 miles north east of Quebec City). His works are in several museums including the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art.

    His primary medium is oil paint applied with a palette knife*. However, there are also some works in pencil, charcoal, and pastels. His subjects are landscapes, coastal views, rivers, lakes and mountains. The locations are mostly in Quebec – its rural areas, Laurentian Mountains, and the northern subarctic regions. He has travelled in Asia (c. 1995 – 1998); however, we have not seen any works depicting those travels. His style could be described as Fauv...
