Reza Lavasani was born in 1962, he received his Bachelor of Arts in painting from University of Tehran's Faculty of Fine Arts. Lavasani's interest in mythology, religion and history led to his study of philosophy and mysticism and this study has directly influenced his works. Characteristic of the motifs in Persian miniature paintings and manuscript illumination, yet with a modernly abstract and fable-like rendering of wind, waves, and animals, Lavasani's paintings are strongly recognizable.
