    Richard Wilhelm Kempin was born in 1885 in Oldenberg.

    Kempin took painting lessons from the landscape painter Gerhard Bakenhus in Kreyenbrück for 10 years. In 1911 Kempin went to the art school in Weimar run by Fritz Mackensen, where he became a master student of Max Thedy.

    After the war Kempin moved back to Oldenburg and in 1925 moved into a house with a studio in Kreyenbrück.

    Between 1937 and 1942 Kempin exhibited at the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich.

    Richard Wilhelm Kempin passed away in Germany in 1951.
