About Rick Prol

  • Biography

A key figure in the mid-1980s in the art world of the East Village of New York, he was assistant to Jean-Michel Basquiat. His work is somewhat like that of his mentor with the cartoon imagery but has more formalism. There are chugging trains, hanging hooks, disembodied heads, bicycles, etc. Most of the images are ink in scraps of paper, and the sheets are pasted onto found boards.
