About Robert Gallon

  • Biography

Robert Gallon was a landscape and coastal painter who lived in St John's Wood, London. He traveled extensively throughout the British Isles to paint his subjects, which included recognized views of England, Scotland and Wales.

Gallon's paintings can vary greatly in style, ranging from those with broad, loose and painterly rendered compositions strokes to others with more detail and precise "tight" brushwork. Gallon painted in a realistic style similar to that of Benjamin Williams Leader and George Vicat Cole.

He was an active exhibitor in London between 1868 and 1903, primarily at these London Galleries: the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists.
