    Robert McGown Coventry, born in 1855 in Glasgow, Scotland, was a Scottish artist who trained at the Glasgow School of Art and in Paris. He focused on capturing the fishing communities of Scotland and the Scottish Highlands in his artwork. While not closely associated with the Glasgow Boys, he shared their interest in rustic realism and French-inspired techniques. Coventry spent his professional life in Glasgow, becoming a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour in 1889 and an associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1906. His work has yet to receive a scholarly appraisal.
