About Robert Van Vorst Sewell

    Painter, muralist. Born in NYC in 1860. Sewell studied in Paris with Lefebvre and Boulanger. His known works include landscapes and coastals of California. He maintained a studio home in Oyster Bay, NY and died while vacationing in Florence, Italy on Nov. 18, 1924. Member: ANA; NY Arch. League; Century Assn; Union League Club; Lotos Club. Exh: NAD, 1889 (prize); Boston, 1891 (medal); Pan Am Expo, Buffalo, 1901 (medal); Louisiana Purchase Expo (St Louis), 1904 (medal).
