  • Biography

Roberto Crippa studied under the guidance of Aldo Carpi, Carlo Carrà and Achile Funi at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. Under the influence of Lucio Fontana, he joined the artist movement ‘Spazialismo’, in which Fontana combined concrete art with experimental and provocative methods of Dadaism.

In Paris and New York, he met Victor Brauner, Max Ernst and Marcel Duchamp. Crippa’s early work shows the influences of Cubism and the works of Pablo Picasso. Then he developed his own style.

Crippa has exhibited several times at the Venice Biennial as well as at the documenta in Kassel and the Triennial in Milan. (cko)...
