    At the age of 18, Rodolphe Théophile Bosshard went to Geneva to study painting at the École des Beaux-Arts and to be taught in modeling. In 1910, he traveled to Paris for the first time, where he took courses at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and, together with his friend Gustave Buchet, visited the Louvre.

    His first important exhibition took place in the gallery of Paul Vallotton in Lausanne in 1916. Between 1920 and 1924 he once again stayed in Paris. In close contact with Marc Chagall, André Derain, Gino Severini, Ossip Zadkine and other representatives of the avant-garde, he soon became one of the most famous artists of the city, whose works were exhibited together with those of Chagall and Picasso.
