    Roger Nivelt was a renowned Orientalist and Africanist painter who received prestigious awards for his work, including the gold medal at the Exposition Coloniale Internationale in Paris in 1931 and the Abd-el-Tif prize in 1934. He traveled extensively through regions like Sud-Oranais and the Hoggar, capturing scenes and portraits with great finesse on Japanese paper enhanced with watercolor. One of his notable portraits is of a young Targuia woman, which was acquired by Paul Jouve. Works by Roger Nivelt can be found in museums such as the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, as well as in museums in Algiers, Brussels, Douai, and Noyer-sur-Serein....
