  • Biography

Rolf Diener, born in 1906 in Gößnitz, Germany, was a German painter, draftsman, and graphic artist. He moved to Hamburg in 1910 and attended the Landeskunstschule Hamburg from 1927 to 1931, where he was trained by Arthur Illies. During the Third Reich, he worked as a toolmaker but returned to his artistic pursuits after 1945. Diener studied with Arnold Fiedler at the "Baukreis" in Hamburg from 1948 to 1951 and was influenced by authoritative currents of classical modernism. He transitioned to abstract painting around 1950 and gained recognition with a solo exhibition at the Hamburg Kunsthalle in 1957. Diener regularly participated in the exhibition of Hamburg artists.
