    Roman Kochanowski was a painter and graphic designer. He was one of the Polish painters that settled in Munich. Kochanowski began his studies in Krakow; first at M. Cercha's private workshop, then at the School of Fine Arts (1873 - 1875) under the supervision of Wladyslaw Luszczkiewicz and the landscape painter Henryk Grabinski. For the next two years he also studied landscapes at the Vienna Academy.

    In 1881 he moved to Munich, where he owned his own workshop. He often visited Krakow and the Poznan region, Galicia and Podole, where he created landscapes and urban views which he included in his album Published in Vienna (1898).
