Ron Bolt is a painter, printmaker, commercial artist and muralist who was born in Toronto, Canada and presently lives in Baltimore, Ontario. His mediums are oil, acrylic, lithography and collage. His early subjects were lyrical abstracts, and for the last 30 years mostly landscapes, rock formations, rivers, shorelines, mountains and seascapes. His most recognized style is photo realism. He accepts the description of his style as belonging to the "Northern Romantic Tradition" a term coined by the art critic Robert Rosenblum. The tradition, Rosenblum claims, started with Caspar David Friedrich then to Turner, Constable and the Pre-Raphaelites. Bolt also cites as influences; Van Gogh and Mark Rothko.
