    Rudi Baerwind was a German painter and graphic artist. He studied at the art academy in Munich, Berlin and Paris and lived mainly in his native city and in the French capital. In the 1950s and 1960s he enjoyed as an artist international recognition and organized in 1959, the first Franco-German Art Exhibition in Munich and Paris. In Mannheim, he initiated the "Symposium of the Arts".

    His style was initially influenced by German Expressionism, but transformed by a surrealist phase towards the informal and finally to the International style. Having confessed his homosexuality, Baerwind was incarcerated in the 1950s for ...
