    Samuel Hutchings (1894 – 1995)

    A Canadian carver of wooden duck hunting decoys, Samuel R. Hutchings was born in Jones Falls, Ontario and lived in the same home all of his life. His primary subjects were goldeneyes and hooded mergansers which he sold to area hunters. The askART auction results have some excellent illustrations of his work. One of his decoys is in the permanent collection of the Canadian Museum of History (National Capital Region). Below are biographies from Copley Fine Art Auctions and The Ward Foundation.
