Yang San-Lang was born in 1907 in the Wangshih village of Taipei County. Yang graduated from Kanzai Arts College in 1929, seven years after arriving Japan. His works had been selected from the Taiwan Exhibition and Chunyang Exhibition several times, and thus his fine reputation had been built up in both the Taiwanese and Japanese arts worlds.
In 1932, Yang went abroad to France to further his studies. His artwork has strong Impressionism, and he brought "light" and "time" into artwork to express personal painting style and taste through natural sketch and emphasized in natural sudden moment.
