    Serge Lemoyne (1941 - 1998)

    Serge Lemoyne was a painter, sculptor, print maker, performance artist and instigator of happenings*. He is considered to be one of the most avant-garde artists of Quebec in the last half of the 20th Century.

    He was born in Acton Vale, Québec, a town about 50 miles east of Montreal; and died in Saint-Hyacinthe, a town about 30 miles east of Montreal. He lived in the Montreal area all his life. (1)

    His mediums included oil, acrylic, gouache*, spray-paint, ink, pastel, collage*, found objects*, ready-mades (2), mixed mediums, serigraph*, lithograph*, assemblages*, installations* and happenings*. His subjects included social commentary, Quebec culture, portraits, symbolism, mod...
