Shany van den Berg has been a full-time artist with an extensive background since 1992. Her work serves as a monologue from within her life as a woman, mother, and artist. Renowned for her technical acumen, subtle symbolism and agility in slipping between figuration and abstraction, her narratives are sometimes a calm reflective meditation, and other times obsessive.

Van den Berg investigates the critical contemporary themes of identity, family, and connectedness to the world around us through multimedia expressions of drawings, paintings, collages, and sculptural forms. There she reconstitutes her stream of consciousness as both fable and history.
