Ting Shao Kuang is a prominent contemporary Chinese painter and sculptor. He is known for his works characterized by traditional Chinese painting techniques combined with more expressive Western art forms.

Ting Shao Kuang was born in Chenggu, China in 1939. The year he was born, this area was ravaged by the Sino-Japanese war. Two years later his parents fled to Taiwan, leaving Ting behind in Beijing with his grandparents who were suffering greatly from the poverty inflicted upon them by the government.
