About Shelagh Campbell
Biography
Shelagh Campbell studied at the Glasgow School of Art. Like many women artists of her generation in the 1960s, she placed family first for many years, though she continued to paint throughout. She lived for a period in Ullapool, Wester Ross, where the colours of the land and sea became central to her visual language. The family later relocated to Qatar in the Arabian Gulf, where Campbell continued to paint Scottish subjects while also exhibiting her work, teaching briefly, working on Doha radio, and serving as an artistic advisor for Qatar TV.
Around twenty years ago she reconnected with her former teacher and close friend, James D. Robertson RSA, whose encouragement prompted her to return to painting with renewed commitment. H...
