    The German artist Siegward Sprotte was a very well-known painter, draftsman and watercolorist during the first half of the 20th century. He received his artistical training first under Karl Hagemeister, then at the Berlin Art Academy under Emil Orlik. Since 1945, he spent half of the year in Berlin, Potsdam and on the German island Sylt, whereas he lived the second half of the year in southern regions, such as Italy, France and Portugal.

    In his artistic work, Sprotte was therefore especially focused on depictions of landscapes. Today, his watercolors, drawings and paintings are represented in the collections of numerous important museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, the Shanghai Art Museum, the Pus...
