About Skip Whitcomb

  • Biography

    A plein-air landscape painter and also a printmaker in the traditional or realist style, Skip Whitcomb studied at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He was raised on a ranch near Sterling, Colorado and spent his summers in Wyoming and then settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He now (2003) lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, and has participated in gallery invitational shows and museum exhibitions around the country.

    He is the two-time winner of both the Artist's Choice Award at the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale and the Red Smith Memorial Award at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming. Whitcomb has also won the Grand Prize in Pastel Journal's International Competition.
