Sofia Kisselov was born in Cracow, Poland to a cosmopolitan Jewish family. Together with her brother she survived World War II and immigrated to Israel. Sofia studied painting and sculpture at the Cracow Art Academy and, after immigrating to Israel, continued at the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem.

Her work is characterized by many biographical elements that reflect a society in which cultures clash, merge and divide, to finally breed a new mode of being.

The paintings reflect fractions of memories, compassion, suffering and particularly, a strong desire for life.
