    Stan Fullerton was born in Portland, Oregon on January 19, 1935. After a childhood spent in Oregon and Michigan, he moved to the San Francisco Bay area. While exploring human folly through the figure in painting, printmaking, sculpture and collage; his expressionist works tend to be large, bright and colorful His first exhibit was in 1958 at the City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco, a favorite meeting place of the Beat Generation poets.

    Moving to New York in 1959, Fullerton befriended noted expressionist artist and political cartoonist George Grosz and studied at the Art Students League.
