A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where he was educated under the supervision of Józef Pankiewicz and Teodor Axentowicz. Axentowicz has just had a special and lasting impact on his work, visible in decorative lines, a bright, subdued range of color, precise fixation of the character traits of the models. He was primarily a portraitist, especially the Podhale Highlanders and beautiful Highlanders in traditional costumes – the Highlander’s Study is in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw, but he also painted genre scenes and Tatra landscapes.
