    He studied painting in the years 1871–75 in the Warsaw Drawing Class with Wojciech Gerson and Aleksander Kamienski. After graduating from studies, he permanently moved to Warsaw. Every year he traveled to Ukraine, whose outdoors and folklore inspired the creation of many works by the artist, showing generic scenes with the Cossacks. In 1886, thanks to the sale of a work depicting the Cossack Dance, the artist was able to go to Munich. After 1900 he went to Italy and Paris many times, in 1912 he visited Sicily and Tunis. Apart from numerous foreign travels, the artist equally often took part in the outdoors in the country. The artist took an active part in Warsaw’s artistic life – he was a member of m.in.
